Research Interests: Ethnomusicology, musicology, cultural anthropology; contemporary China, Asian North American studies; Chinese Cultural Revolution, One-Child Policy; race and economic precarity, transnationalism; memory and trauma studies; ethnographic and archival methods

People’s Republic of China (2013 & 2016, 2018-2019)

- Key research sites were Beijing, Zhengzhou, Changsha, and Chenzhou; also Shanghai and Guangzhou

- At present, ongoing communication with interlocutors through virtual interfaces

- Ongoing research since 2013 with musicians and individuals in Toronto’s Chinese transnational community

- Previously, fieldwork with French-Canadian communities in Nova Scotia (2011) and Toronto (2012)

- Dissertation research in Taipei with transnational musicians from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Canada
